Some facts…and a call to action

Suicide rates have been higher than ever than the past 50 years.

Psychiatrists are the only clinicians in the field of Psychology required to have in-depth academic study in suicide prevention and intervention.

There are more punitive, one-sided consequences for those expressing having thoughts of suicide than there are collaborative ones to move forward from that and to get emotional support.

There are more social-emotionally safe learning and supportive spaces for youth than adults.

The people we most turn to for immediate support during extremely tough emotional times reject helping us, turn us down or don’t know how to help.

There aren’t enough suicide prevention trained psychologists to go around and it worsens the pain knowing most of the people in our lives don’t want to support us while we are in crisis due to fear: fear of saying the wrong thing, fear of suggesting the wrong thing or even pushing someone off the edge, fear of not understanding you.

The thing is, I know what it’s like to feel like no one has your back and that is what I have infused into the heart of Grounds For Clarity is the understanding of isolation and the self-compassion it takes to peel away the calcified layers of pain in every toxic situation I became stuck in, most of all within myself. Through our intuitive methods of acquiring self-compassion, we can essentially become our own healers and in turn, heal one another knowing that suffocating darkness. We can support one another through dark times.

We need more people on the ground that understand isolation and how to treat individuals with compassion, respect and care for the pain.

We need more people on the ground that know how to treat a human humanely even during a state of crisis.

I wonder if there are any of you out there that feel completely alone and invisible, in your pain, in your isolation and NO ONE is asking you if you are okay?

I wonder if there are any of you that have gone more years than you can count on one hand carrying around this pain to yourself, your story, your dark feelings and desire to disappear forever?

I wonder if any of you out there have NO ONE to talk to about just how alone you feel, don’t feel safe divulging any of your secrets to anyone and feel completely broken and worthless?

People NEED services and safe spaces to open up, be 100%, heal, shed the judgment, feel emotionally safe and whole again. Learn how to become human again and not feel ashamed for feeling the way you do.

There is more to suicide than suicide. Our coping mechanisms, our self-medicating, our social media splurges, aren’t working. Even turning to our immediate circles isn’t working anymore. Why? Because we lack compassion. The dam has broken and in turn, we have lost ourselves to one another. The time is now. Our social, clinical and private services have let people fall through the cracks. Why? Because of FEAR. Compassion cannot thrive in fear. We need safe spaces that nurture compassion.Β  Tired of Fear being the winner?

I want this to be a safe space to share my goings-on while I dig deep into my journey of self-discovery. What brings me to my desire to share my journey? I wish to provide life-coaching services to others. I coach to help others uncover what it is that is holding them back from accomplishing what is dearest in their hearts, spirit and minds. I am currently a student at iPEC, Institute of Professional Excellence in coaching. I am determined to disseminate my coaching services to all those interested. While I coach, I also would like to share bits and pieces of what it is that I do as a life coach-to-be and inversely, what I do not do. I am an imagineer, at your service. That is the best way I can describe a life coach to you. As a life coach-to-be, I can teach you how to think outside the box, consider alternative perspectives and reflect on what influences your thoughts. If any of this sounds like something you are experiencing, what is stopping you from moving forward? A space to message me may be found on the middle menu option on my home page. I acknowledge, appreciate and embody gratitude for each and every one of you and the struggles which you endeavour each and every moment. No one is a stranger to adversity. We can all overcome adversity because of our combined diversity. Thank you for contributing your time into our growing and collective, worldly diversity. Endearingly yours, Kim
